About Technology 2020
The Technology 2020 project was initiated in 1993 to capitalize on the unique resources of the East Tennessee region: the presence of the Oak Ridge National Lab, the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, the headquarters of the Tennessee Valley Authority, and a significant number of large and small technology companies in the region. Since its inception, Technology 2020 has played a key role in the creation of more than 214 innovative companies with an annual regional payroll of more than $128 million and a total economic impact of more than $260 million.
